BAM advances in 'Gardens in the Sky' Competition
\\
This scheme intends to recreate and reinterpret the quality of the urban and landscape spaces which are so unique to Chongqing. Through the utilization of multiple levels, stairs, ramps, split levels, and stepping motifs the intention is to re-create the seemingly random yet infinitely interesting sequence of odd spaces, stepped alleyways, and intimate gardens which define the communal spaces of typical Chongqing neighborhoods. The red circulation path moves up and down and side to side, winding its way in and out of the building connecting various types of plaza or garden spaces. This circulation path hearkens not only the typical winding garden paths so common in Chinese parks and gardens where children and elderly often stroll, but also in a more esoteric sense relate to the shifting and changing series of pathways one finds themselves when walking through the city.
